Newtownabbey Garage Theft: Police Appeal After Suspects Flee on Moped

Police in Newtownabbey are appealing for witnesses and information following a theft from a garage in the area on Tuesday, 2nd January 2024.

According to initial reports, the incident occurred during the afternoon. Officers received a report that suspects had entered the commercial premises and stolen items before fleeing the scene. It is understood that the individuals involved left the area on a moped.

A spokesperson for the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) confirmed that an investigation has been launched. "We are investigating a report of a theft from a garage in the Newtownabbey area. The suspects are believed to have made their escape on a moped," the spokesperson said.

Local officers are appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity at the time and noticed any suspicious activity, or who may have captured dash-cam or CCTV footage of the suspects on the moped, to contact them. Anyone with information is asked to call the PSNI non-emergency number, 101, quoting the reference details, or to submit a report online. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers.
