Norfolk Headteacher Jailed for Stalking Colleague at King's Lynn School
A former Norfolk headteacher has been jailed after a court heard details of his systematic campaign of stalking directed at a colleague at a King's Lynn school. The prosecution described the behavior as highly disruptive and distressing, involving unwanted surveillance, persistent messaging, and efforts to monitor the victim's personal and professional life.
The court heard that the stalking took place over a period of several months, causing significant psychological distress to the victim and raising serious concerns within the school community. Despite warnings, the defendant continued his behavior, leading to his arrest and subsequent trial. In sentencing, the judge emphasized the abuse of position and the profound impact on the victim, stating that a custodial sentence was necessary to reflect the gravity of the offense and to protect the victim.
Following the trial, representatives from the school and local education authorities expressed their support for the victim and reiterated their commitment to maintaining safe and professional working environments. The former headteacher has also been handed a restraining order, preventing any future contact with the victim.
