Police Identify Suspect in Carnoustie Close Attempted Burglary

An investigation into an attempted residential break-in in Ashington has reached a significant milestone. Northumbria Police have confirmed that they have successfully identified a man they previously sought to question regarding the incident.

The incident occurred on the night of Thursday, January 9, 2025. At approximately 11:30 PM, an unidentified male approached a residential property located on Carnoustie Close in Ashington. According to police reports, the individual made a direct attempt to gain access to the home by testing the handle of the front door. Fortunately, the entry attempt was unsuccessful, and the suspect fled the scene shortly thereafter.

As part of their ongoing inquiries, investigating officers released two CCTV images of a male they wished to identify and speak with in relation to the attempted burglary. Following a public appeal, Northumbria Police announced that the individual has been identified and expressed their gratitude to members of the public who provided information that assisted in the investigation.
