Ragazzi Clothing in Wrexham City Centre Targeted in Overnight Burglary
The owner of Ragazzi Clothing, a popular independent fashion boutique on Yorke Street in Wrexham city centre, has described an overnight break-in as "disheartening" and a "nightmare" for a small business operating during the quiet winter months. The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, January 14, 2025.
Smashed Window and Stolen Stock
The burglary took place between 2:00 a.m. and 2:15 a.m. when two suspects smashed a front display window of the shop to gain access to the showroom. Once inside, the thieves targeted high-value designer clothing, making off with a significant quantity of premium jackets and knitted jumpers. The swift break-in left the storefront heavily damaged, with shattered glass covering the display area.
Police Pursuit of Stolen Getaway Car
North Wales Police arrived at the scene and identified a blue Vauxhall Astra fleeing the area. The vehicle, which was fitted with stolen license plates, was later stopped by officers following a pursuit. However, the two suspects managed to escape on foot and remained outstanding despite search efforts. The stolen clothing items and the getaway vehicle have been seized for detailed forensic analysis.
Impact on Independent Business
Speaking after the incident, the store's owner highlighted the emotional and financial toll of the crime. January is traditionally one of the toughest trading periods for independent retail, making the loss of stock and the cost of repairing the smashed storefront a major setback. Police are continuing to appeal for anyone with dashcam footage or information about the suspects to get in touch immediately.
