Santa Maria Man Arrested for ATM Burglary and Carjacking

On October 1, 2023, a burglary and carjacking incident occurred in Santa Maria, California. The suspect, a Santa Maria resident, used a stolen vehicle to ram into the front of an ATM located at a local bank on South Broadway, near the intersection of Broadway and Main Street. The suspect then smashed the ATM and stole an estimated $20,000 in cash.

Following the burglary, the suspect carjacked a vehicle at gunpoint from a nearby parking lot. The victim was not injured. Police responded to the scene and initiated a pursuit, which ended when the suspect crashed the stolen vehicle into a fence. The suspect was apprehended and arrested. The stolen vehicle used in the burglary and the cash were recovered by the police. Police are appealing for any witnesses or information that could assist in their investigation.
