Shrewsbury boxing club volunteers 'gutted' when they saw results of break-in

Volunteers at a local Shrewsbury boxing club have been left devastated after discovering the aftermath of a destructive break-in at their training facilities. The incident, which is believed to have occurred overnight, has resulted in significant damage to community sports equipment and the loss of club funds.

Club organizers expressed their heartbreak, describing themselves as "gutted" upon arriving to find doors kicked in, office spaces ransacked, and vital training gear defaced or stolen. The club, which serves as a vital hub for local youth and offers structured training programs to keep youngsters off the streets, relies heavily on community donations and volunteer efforts.

Speaking about the incident, a senior volunteer noted: "We work incredibly hard to provide a safe space for these kids, and to see someone violate it like this is a massive blow. We don't have deep pockets; every penny we raise goes right back into the club. Having to replace stolen gear and repair structural damage means we'll have to put some of our community programs on hold."

West Mercia Police have been contacted and are investigating the burglary. Security measures are currently being reviewed, and local residents are urged to report any suspicious activity around the premises on the night of the break-in.
