Spate of Burglaries Targeting Veterinary Surgeries in Moira and Dromore Prompts Police Appeal
Police in Lurgan have issued an urgent appeal for information following a targeted series of burglaries at multiple veterinary clinics in the Dromore and Moira areas. The break-ins, which appear to be part of a coordinated crime spree, have raised concern among local business owners and veterinary professionals due to the nature of the stolen materials.
According to police reports, intruders forced entry into the veterinary practices overnight, causing damage to security doors and windows. Once inside, the suspects focused their search on secure storage units, escaping with sums of cash alongside quantities of controlled prescription drugs used for animal care. The theft of veterinary medicines is considered particularly dangerous, as these substances can pose severe health risks if consumed by humans.
Investigating officers are asking anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity near veterinary surgeries in either Moira or Dromore to contact them immediately. Police are also encouraging clinic managers to review their security measures, ensure drug safes are locked, and verify that alarms and CCTV systems are fully functional. Anyone with dashcam footage from the areas around the times of the break-ins is requested to share it with the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) to assist with ongoing enquiries.
