Teenager Arrested After Lengthy Garda Pursuit Following Suspected Laois Burglary

A teenager has been arrested following a lengthy police pursuit through parts of County Laois on January 19, 2026. The incident began after Gardaí received reports of a suspected burglary in progress at a residential property in the area.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers spotted a vehicle fleeing the area. When the driver failed to stop for police, a pursuit was initiated. Multiple Garda units, including local patrols and support vehicles, were deployed to safely contain and intercept the fleeing car.

Arrest and Ongoing Investigation

The pursuit, which spanned a considerable distance across local roads, ended when Gardaí successfully brought the vehicle to a halt. A teenager was arrested at the scene and taken to a local Garda station for questioning. The suspect is being held under provisions of the Criminal Justice Act as investigations continue.
