Thieves leave trail of destruction at 'Mother's Kitchen' in Basildon burglary

The community of Basildon has rallied around the owners of 'Mother's Kitchen' after the popular local diner was targeted in a destructive overnight burglary. Intruders forced entry into the premises, causing severe damage to the interior, fixtures, and kitchen equipment before fleeing the scene.

Staff arriving in the morning discovered the aftermath of the break-in, which included smashed glass, overturned furniture, and damaged point-of-sale systems. The thieves also targeted the cash register and storage areas, disrupting the business's ability to operate and forcing a temporary closure during one of their busiest periods.

Essex Police officers attended the scene to conduct forensic testing and collect security footage. Investigators are currently speaking with neighboring businesses and residents to identify any witnesses who may have heard or seen suspicious activity in the area between midnight and dawn.
