Two Arrested Following Violent Armed Home Invasion in Windsor

The Windsor Police Service has announced the arrest of two suspects connected to a violent, armed home invasion that occurred earlier this week, though a third suspect remains at large.

Assault and Gunfire on Radisson Court

The terrifying incident unfolded shortly before 12:30 a.m. on March 30. According to investigators, two masked suspects forcefully broke into a residence located on Radisson Court, an area situated south of the EC Row Expressway near Dougall Avenue.

Once inside the home, the violent intruders confronted the occupants. Police allege that the masked suspects threatened the residents and physically assaulted them. During the chaotic intrusion, a firearm was also discharged inside the home.

Investigators believe a third suspect remained outside the residence, acting as a getaway driver. The suspects eventually fled the scene, making off with a large amount of cash and various other stolen property.

Coordinated Arrests Across Ontario

Following a rapid investigation by the Windsor Police major crimes unit, two of the three suspects were successfully identified.

The first suspect, a 55-year-old, was apprehended by the Windsor Police problem-oriented policing team shortly before 8:30 p.m. on March 31 on Reginald Street.

The second suspect, a 34-year-old, was tracked down the following day. Around noon on April 1, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) successfully arrested the individual in Kemptville, Ontario, located over 700 kilometres away from the crime scene.

Both individuals are now facing a severe list of criminal charges, which include:

  • Discharging a firearm with recklessness
  • Robbery with a weapon
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Forcible confinement
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Break and enter
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

Additional weapons charges have also been laid relating to possessing a firearm while prohibited.

Search Continues for Third Suspect

While two arrests have been made, police have confirmed that the third suspect, believed to be the getaway driver, remains outstanding.

Windsor Police are asking anyone with information regarding this violent home invasion or the whereabouts of the third suspect to contact the major crimes unit immediately. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers.

Home Security Reminders

Violent, armed intrusions highlight the critical need for robust home security to delay intruders and alert authorities instantly:

  • Fortify Entry Points: Ensure your exterior doors are solid wood or metal and equipped with heavy-duty deadbolts and reinforced strike plates. This makes forcing entry much more difficult and noisy.
  • Invest in a Monitored Alarm: A monitored security system ensures that even if you are incapacitated or forcibly confined during an intrusion, a tripped alarm will automatically dispatch police to your location.
  • Keep Phones Accessible: Always keep a charged cell phone within reach in your bedroom at night so you can dial 911 immediately if you hear someone attempting to break in.
