Albany Grocery Store Burglaries Lead to Arrest of Suspect

Albany, NY - On October 1, 2023, Albany Police arrested a suspect in connection with two separate grocery store burglaries that occurred in the city. The burglaries took place at two different locations: one at the Price Chopper on Central Avenue and the other at the Hannaford Supermarket on Western Avenue. The suspect, whose identity has not been released, is believed to have acted alone in both incidents.

The modus operandi in both cases involved the suspect breaking into the stores after hours. The suspect gained entry by smashing a window at the Price Chopper and forcing open a back door at the Hannaford Supermarket. The total value of the stolen items from both locations is estimated to be around $5,000. The stolen items included cash, cigarettes, and alcohol. No injuries were reported in either incident.

Police were able to apprehend the suspect after a brief chase following the second burglary. The suspect was apprehended without further incident and is currently being held in custody.
