Albany Man Sentenced for Violent Subway Robbery

An Albany man was sentenced to more than a decade in prison for a violent robbery at a Subway restaurant on Central Avenue. The incident occurred on January 12, 2023, when the perpetrator, identified as 30-year-old John Doe, entered the Subway restaurant armed with a knife. Doe demanded money from the cash register and a cell phone from a customer.

During the robbery, Doe injured a 22-year-old employee and a 35-year-old customer. The total value of the stolen items was approximately $500. Doe was apprehended by police a few blocks away from the crime scene after a brief chase. The police have appealed to the public for any additional information that could help in further investigations.
