Copper Thefts Target Robstown Businesses, Over $100K in Losses

Robstown, Texas, has been the target of a series of burglaries, with thieves stealing copper valued at over $100,000 from local businesses. The incidents occurred at various locations, including a business on the 1100 block of East Main Street and another on the 1100 block of North St. Mary's Street. The thieves employed a similar modus operandi, using bolt cutters to gain entry and remove copper pipes and wiring. The thefts were reported to have occurred between the dates of October 23 and 24, 2023.

In response to these incidents, the Robstown Police Department made two arrests. The suspects, identified as 34-year-old David Martinez and 31-year-old John Doe, were apprehended and charged with burglary of a building. The police are currently investigating whether these individuals are part of a larger criminal organization. The suspects managed to escape after the initial thefts but were later captured. No injuries were reported during the incidents.

The police have appealed to the public for any information that could aid in their investigation. They are particularly interested in any details regarding the whereabouts of the suspects before and after the burglaries. The stolen copper, valued at over $100,000, includes various types of piping and wiring, which are believed to have been sold for scrap. The police have not yet recovered the stolen items and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
