Shreveport Man Arrested for Theft and Resisting Officer
On January 6, 2025, just before 2 p.m., Shreveport police responded to a theft in progress at the Walgreens located at 3100 N. Market St. The suspect, identified as Tony Carver, was known to authorities for multiple thefts in the area. Carver was seen leaving the store when officers arrived and initially appeared cooperative. However, he suddenly removed his sweater and fled, leading officers on a chase through the woods in the 300 block of North Market. Carver was eventually found lying in a ditch on North Market near the northbound ramp to westbound Interstate 220.
Carver now faces one count each of resisting an officer and organized retail theft, adding to his 13 theft-related charges within the past year. Police Cpl. Chris Bordelon emphasized the significant economic impact of such crimes on the community, stating that the Shreveport Police Department is committed to addressing organized retail theft and protecting the city's economy.
