Suspect Arrested in Attempted Downtown Charleston Bank Robbery

On the evening of October 19, 2023, an attempted robbery occurred at the Bank of America branch located at 175 Meeting Street in downtown Charleston, South Carolina. The suspect entered the bank and demanded cash from the teller, but no money was taken during the incident. The suspect fled the scene on foot but was later apprehended by Charleston Police Department (CPD) officers.

According to CPD, the suspect was identified as a 30-year-old male from Charleston. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and is currently being held at the Charleston County Detention Center. No injuries were reported during the attempted robbery. The CPD is appealing to the public for any additional information that could aid in the investigation.
